About Helen

Helen was born in Dundee and was educated at Stobswell School where she became interested in all forms of art.

Her interest was renewed about twelve years ago when she joined Monifieth Art Society and started drawing. With the help of more experienced artists her interest in painting was renewed and she attended all lectures given by visiting artists. She became Treasurer for the Society before becoming President in 1999 for two years. She is also a member of Broughty Ferry Art Society and attends Harry McGregors art class, she has also had instruction from well known artist, Syd Walker. She exhibits widely in the local area, small art galleries and is a regular exhibitor wider afield.

There has been a steady and increasing interest in Helen's work and she has completed a number of commissions.

Helen also enjoys attending workshops to further refine her skills. Helen mainly works in watercolour but also enjoys the challenge of other mediums such as oil and gouache. Her passion always returns to her pencil work.

Over the years Helen has also shown an interest in Illuminating painting and calligraphy and is an avid reader of all books relating to these subjects.
